Economist job

PIRA Energy Group, an internationally renowned consultant offering retainer client services and customized research, has an opening in its North American Electric Power consulting group. Specifically, the position requires a self starting and commercially oriented individual who possesses strong skills in written communications, quantitative analysis, and computers. This intellectually demanding job will require the individual to keep abreast of multiple markets that trade electricity and related fuels and emissions markets. The individual will track market fundamentals by gathering, examining and interpreting industry information.
The individual will use this information to generate ongoing technical reports on electricity markets, in supporting databases, and in client presentations that communicate our views of these various markets. The individual needs strong organizational skills and is able to plan and meet strict publication deadlines. Preparing parts of several ongoing monthly reports covering North American electricity markets. Research and gather data on the U.S. r Canadian federal, state and local economies and electrical usage. Assess historical trends using statistical analysis.Track new power projects and planned retirements.Maintain expansive and complex databases
Build and execute models and formulas to update forecasts of various parameters. Handle client queries.
