Regularly tests water to ensure proper chlorination, pH and alkalinity. Periodically test for calcium hardness and stabilizer. Ensure proper handling of pool chemicals, including the use of personal protective equipment, proper hazard communication labeling and maintenance of MSDS documentation. Maintain filtration system by emptying skimmer and pump baskets on a regular basis. Back wash pump and replenish DE on a monthly basis. Replace or repair pool and spa jets, pipes, fittings, drains, flush valves, and shut off valves. Repair broken pool tile as needed. Skim or vacuum pool regularly to ensure area meets diamond quality standards.
Knowledge of methods, practices, equipment and supplies used in the maintenance and repair of swimming pools and spas. Knowledge of materials. Ability to lift carries, push and pull heavy objects. A suitably qualified and experienced Gardener Grounds person is sought to maintain the gardens and grounds of the official residence of the Australian Ambassador to the United States. The successful candidate will have appropriate landscape, horticulture and grounds maintenance knowledge and skills to maintain an acre property with an in ground pool and lawn tennis court in the District of Columbia.

Inspect all machines and report any deficiencies to the Equipment Technician.
